lovely old hotel great lobby friendly people

It was comfortable, not luxurious, but quite charming.

      bed comfort.

A bit shabby. Half the lighting fixtures did not work. Only one chair in the room, a small uncomfortable wooden chair. Only one very small dresser to store clothes in, not at all suitable for a stay of 6 days. On 3 out of 5 days we found our door unlocked after the cleaning staff had been in; nothing was stolen, but the problem persisted in spite of repeatedly mentioning it at the front desk. Definitely not worth what we paid per night

      Friendly bar/restaurant.

Accommodation provided was basic - ensuite facilities were 'quaint'. No view. Room looked out on solid brick wall.

Authentic, a piece of New England of the forties,

It is too old and all the facility is out of age.

The bed was very uncomfortable; no way to control the room temp, only the fan; too much street noise. Not a public elevator, looked very old, had to b operated by worker. Old place but not kept up, bare bones.

      Did not like

Very noisy, very old and beat-up

The door sign said no smoking. We opened the door and were hit with the smelll of stale cigarette smoke. The beadspread was stained. The carpet had burn holes. The shower had hair in it. We didn't stay the second night.

I love the history factor the Yankee Pedlar provides, with its interesting old windows, walls, hallways, elevator, etc. The location, for my purposes, was perfect. It could not be beat. I was concerned about parking, but really did not have a major problem even on a busy Friday and Saturday evening. Dinner was delicious and extremely reasonable. The wait staff was super accommodating to our fairly large group. Sandra, at the front desk, who checked me out on Sunday, was quite pleasant. I enjoyed my two night stay.

With out a doubt, Ericka, at the front desk, who I unfortunately encountered upon my arrival to check in on Friday, was arrogant, brusque, discourteous, ungracious and down right rude. I immediately felt as if I were putting her out just by wanting to check in. I have to say, this first meeting with her put me in an alert mode, wondering if I had made a huge mistake booking there. It certainly seems that with so many people looking for work, that management would or could find someone to be a much better fit for relating to guests. Other than a couple small concerns; a sticky room door and the elevator having to be manned, my biggest issue was with who met me at the check in desk. Inexcusable.

No way to adjust the temperature of the room. The A/C is either high/low or off. Poor soundproofing. Light and noise from adjoining room seeped under the door. Elevator not in operation and there was no notice of this when I booked. A/C was out in restaurant - very hot. We ate elsewhere.

Rooms were exceptionally clean and there were none of the odors usually associated with 100 plus year old buildings. If you truly want to be immersed in the past, go here. You truly feel you are living in the early 1900's. The "older" lady who hosts the bagel breakfast is full of great information when prompted. A real asset.

Not as advertised... a cathode TV about 15" . Building is in a very run-down part of town.

The hotel was walking distance to shops and restaurants.

The hotel had an oder and was not clean. Our room and bathroom were dirty. Also, our booking sheet for the room indicated we would have a microwave and refrigerator but the room had neither.

Room, restaurant and staff really good.

Unfortunately the location is not very attractive and ther appeared to be few to none of local attractions

      Staff very friendly and attentive.

Room was cold, and needed an extra blanket. Overall needs to be upgraded.
